On Wednesday morning, authorities at Hyderabad's Begumpet Airport received a bomb threat via email. This prompted a search operation, bomb squad deployment, and heightened security around the airport.

The Begumpet Airport in Hyderabad received a bomb threat via an anonymous email on Wednesday morning. This triggered panic and prompted the airport authorities to conduct intensive checks across the airport and its surrounding premises. A bomb squad was also deployed to help with the search.

Hyderabad Begumpet Airport Receives Bomb Threat Email

According to Hindustan Times, Begumpet Division’s Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) confirmed that Hyderabad Begumpet Airport received a bomb threat on June 18 morning. The Telangana Special Protection Force, CISF, and other security teams reached the airport and security was tightened.

As a precautionary measure, airport staff and employees were evacuated from the premises after the email was received. A bomb disposal squad and trained sniffer dogs were also deployed at the Hyderabad Begumpet Airport, keeping the threat in mind. As per the latest update, intensive checks across the airport and its surrounding premises were added to ensure public safety.

More Details Awaited

As per the police, a thorough search of Hyderabad’s Begumpet Airport is currently underway. A team from the cybercrime department has also started investigating the email and is trying to find out whether it’s a hoax or not and know more about the sender.

This comes after several incidents of bomb threats were reported mid-air. On Tuesday, an IndiGo flight from Kochi to Delhi made an emergency landing in Nagpur after it received a bomb threat. All passengers were safely disembarked and an investigation has been launched. On Sunday, a Hyderabad-bound Lufthansa flight was forced to turn back to Frankfurt after Hyderabad airport received a threat mail.

Hyderabad Police is currently investigating the matter and search operations are underway. More details about this recent incident are awaited.
