Booking trends of companies such as MakeMyTrip, OYO, and Yatra show a soaring increase in host cities, according to a report by the Economic Times. Among all the Indian host cities, Ahmedabad is recording the highest numbers. After the announcement of the cricket World Cup schedule, the Gujarat city witnessed a spectacular rise of 777 per cent in bookings for October and November, as shared by an OYO spokesperson.
Narendra Modi Stadium is hosting high-intensity matches such as the inaugural match, India vs Pakistan match, and the final match. Tickets for these matches are in demand and cricket fans from different cities and countries are flying to Ahmedabad to join the crowd at the stadium.
Unbelievable Numbers Of Bookings In Host Cities For Cricket World Cup
MakeMyTrip co-founder shared about the massive rise in bookings for hotels and stays in the cities where the Men in Blue are playing matches. Among the surge in all host cities, Ahmedabad recorded a rise of 200 per cent in bookings of accommodations.
4-star and 5-star hotel rooms are turning out to be crazy expensive due to the increase by 10-15 times and soaring prices, shared Bharatt Malik, the Yatra Online Senior VP – Flights and Hotel Business.
Not just stays, there is an unimaginable surge and demand for flight tickets on the dates of matches. The prices of tickets have already increased twice or even thrice, he further added.
