Pakistan’s Finance Minister Miftah Ismail revealed that Imran Khan used helicopters almost daily to travel to his office while he was in power. Amid the political crisis in Pakistan, the newly appointed Finance Minister said on Wednesday that the national exchequer had to spend ₹550 million for the former Prime Minister’s regular commute to the PM secretariat from his Bani Gala home. As reported by Samaa TV, Imran Khan commuted for almost 3 years and 8 months.

Imran Khan faced a lot of judgments and criticisms for using helicopters almost regularly after coming to power. Fawad Choudhary, the then information minister, upheld the former prime minister and said that the daily commute costed PKR 55 per kilometer only during that time. Meanwhile, Ismail disproved Fawad’s claims and said that he has evidence to support his statement.

The Finance Minister also added that the last Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) government left a huge circular debt. PTI government had left a huge circular debt in the power sector. They have left a circular debt of PKR 400 billion in the natural gas sector. He also agreed to work with State Bank of Pakistan governor Reza Bakir. The Imran Khan government appointed him while in power. He also spoke that the government needs to work on the IMF program to prevent the economic crisis in the country. Lastly, he even advised that it can borrow money from Saudi Arabia.
