The Cricket World Cup 2023 is here, and all the cricket fans have already booked their tickets for their favourite matches. The next match between India and Afghanistan is all set to be played at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium on Wednesday. Ahead of this match, the Delhi’s traffic police issued an advisory to all the drivers. The advisory has asked them to avoid any inconvenience by travelling on alternative routes.

There will be detours and limits on Bahadurshah Zafar Marg and Jawahar Lal Nehru (JLN) Marg, as per the advisory issued on X (previously Twitter) by Delhi’s traffic unit. 

  • Asaf Ali Road from Turkman Gate – Delhi Gate
  • Bahadurshah Zafar Marg from Ramcharan Aggarwal Chowk – Delhi Gate
  • Rajghat to JLN Marg
  • JLN Marg from Kamla Market – Rajghat

The above are among the roads that the administration asked travellers to avoid.

Buses and large vehicles won’t be permitted on the routes between Daryaganj and Bahadurshah Zafar Marg and beginning at Guru Nanak Chowk to Asaf Ali Road. 

There is a small amount of parking near the stadium that is designated for branded vehicles, according to the Delhi traffic police. It is important to display a car parking label on the windshield. The parking label must include the vehicle number. The warning stated that no vehicles without a valid parking placard were to be brought close to the stadium. (As per Hindustan Times)

Entry To The Stadium

Parking will be prohibited on Bahadurshah Zafar Marg, JLN Marg, and Ring Road (both carriageways) from Rajghat to IP Flyover. The traffic advisory by Delhi traffic police stated that any vehicles parked on certain routes would be hauled away and subject to legal action. Park and ride facilities are available for spectators and unregistered vehicles, according to the traffic police.

All visitors arriving in cars may use the parking lots at Mata Sundari, Shanti Van, and Velodrome Road. They may choose to walk down to the stadium. The advisory further stated that those utilizing application-based taxis and other taxis should drop and pick up passengers in the service lane on Ring Road between IP Flyover and Rajghat crossing. 

On the southern side of the stadium, gates 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 7 are located. Bahadurshah Zafar Marg must be used to enter these gates. 

 On the western side of the stadium, gates 16, 17, and 18 are located. Bahadurshah Zafar Marg must be used to enter these gates. 

 The eastern side of the stadium has a road that leads to gates 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15. Entry to these gates must be made from JLN Marg, next to Ambedkar Stadium Bus Terminal. (As per Hindustan Times)
