Russia Proposes Ivolga High-Speed Trains For India
Russia has now proposed its Ivolga FG high-speed train for India. Russian rolling stock manufacturer Transmashholding (TMH) has offered to jointly develop and produce the train with India. According to News18, these trains have a design speed of 360 kmph. They can be a potential high-speed rail solution for India, but the plan is still in its very initial stages. Reportedly, TMH has proposed joint research and development in high-speed railway technology.
This development will use Russian engineering and scientific expertise for trains. You should know that TMH already has a partnership with India through Kinet Railway Solutions, a joint venture involving TMH and Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL).
Both companies are working on the manufacture of 120 Vande Bharat sleeper trains for Indian Railways. Each of these trains will feature 16 coaches. The manufacturing is underway at the Marathwada Rail Coach Factory in Latur, Maharashtra.
