India’s first private train service took off from Tamil Nadu’s Coimbatore to arrive at Maharashtra’s Sainagar in Shirdi. The train was scheduled to make several stops before finally reaching its final destination in Shirdi. It stopped at Tiruppur, Erode, Salem, Yelahanka, Dharmavaram, Mantralayam Road, and Wadi.

The train has been refurbished in and out before it finally took off. The coaches have been retouched and given a colourful and contemporary interior look.

In a bid to promote domestic tourism, the train will journey via various historical destinations before it reaches Sainagar. It will leave Coimbatore every Tuesday and reach Sainagar every Thursday.
What Makes This Private Train Special?
- India’s first private train is being operated by South Star Rail.
- The train will have housekeeping, and caterers who will prepare a special vegetarian menu for the passengers.
- On the way to Shirdi, the train will make a stop for 5 hours at Mantralayam for the darshan of a famous temple.
- The train has a captain, a doctor, electricians, safety officers, and even railway police personnel on board.
- Private companies can lease the train for Indian railways for a period of two years. And the operators can decide on the route according to their tourism plans.
- Travellers can wish to avail of the services on the train either as ticket fares or packages.
- Ticket charges for the sleeper, third class AC, second class AC, and first-class AC are ₹2,500, ₹5,000, ₹7,000 and ₹10,000 respectively.
- The package fare is about ₹4,999, ₹7,999, ₹9,999 and ₹12,999 respectively.
- The coaches have high bass speakers and a Radio Jockey who will curate devotional songs, and stories and even take LIVE interviews.
The train has been launched under the Bharat Gaurav scheme and aims to promote India’s rich culture and heritage to its tourists – both domestic and international.
