“Afternoon Nap Is The Best Thing You Can Do To Your Body,” Advises Malaika Arora

The latest episode of Sunday Brunch opens on a calmer and more grounded note than one might expect, with Malaika Arora easing into a yoga session with Kamiya Jani, our Editor-in-Chief. We did Yoga, had a satisfying meal at her new restaurant, and had too much fun!

Why Malaika Arora Swears By Afternoon Naps

There is an ease to how she moves, but also to how she speaks about wellness; it never comes across as rigid or prescriptive. That same philosophy carries forward as the setting shifts to Sweeney in Mumbai, her own venture, where food becomes an extension of that lifestyle. The table is anything but minimal: mango sticky rice, green Thai curry with rice, and a spread that leans yummy without apology. It is clear that for Malaika, discipline does not cancel out enjoyment, it coexists with it.

Midway through the meal, the conversation takes an unexpectedly honest turn. Looking at the spread, Malaika Arora casually remarks that she will probably sleep after this. It is not framed as a guilty confession or a cheat habit. When asked if this is something she regularly does, her answer is immediate and matter-of-fact, yes, absolutely. For her, an afternoon nap is not optional; it is essential.

Power Naps And Their Benefits For Energy And Skin

She does not romanticise it either. There is no rigid rule attached to it, and no fixed duration that must be followed every day. Some days, it could stretch to two hours if her schedule allows. On others, especially during shoots, she simply shuts her eyes for 15 to 20 minutes after lunch. That short rest, she explains, is enough to reset her system. It is less about sleep in the conventional sense and more about allowing the body to slow down and recover.

What stands out is how directly she links this habit to long-term benefits. She credits it for better skin, sustained energy, and even longevity, points that are often overlooked in mainstream wellness conversations that focus heavily on activity and output.

In a routine that already includes yoga, mindful eating, and a demanding work schedule, this small act of rest feels surprisingly radical. Malaika Arora is not presenting a new wellness trend, she is simply reclaiming something basic and treating it with the seriousness it deserves.
