On the latest episode of Tere Gully Mein, we met one of India’s most popular stand-up comedians, Harsh Gujral, in his hometown, Kanpur. Known for its simplicity blended with everyday chaos, the city has played a big role in shaping Harsh’s personality and humour. During the episode, we got a glimpse into his life as he revisits old memories, shares anecdotes from his childhood, and takes us through some of his most loved spots in the city.
His Love For Kanpur
Small towns have a charm and uniqueness of their own. Even when people move out and begin living in metropolitan cities, the influence of growing up in a small town never truly fades. The same holds true for Harsh Gujral. As a young boy, he was sent to Delhi by his parents to build a better future and pursue a career.
Over time, he adapted well to city life. More importantly, it was in Delhi that he discovered his passion for stand-up comedy, decided to pursue it full-time, and eventually carved a niche for himself in the comedy scene. While his career took off and his life changed, Kanpur remained close to his heart. No matter where he goes, the city continues to be an emotional anchor for him.

‘This Or That’ With Harsh Gujral
To put his love for his hometown to the test, we played a fun game with Harsh, where he had to choose between popular things from Delhi and Kanpur. The first choice was between Delhi’s butter chicken and Kanpur ki basket chaat. Since Harsh isn’t particularly fond of chaat and absolutely loves chicken, he picked Delhi’s butter chicken without hesitation.
The next choice was between Delhi’s momos and Kanpur’s samosas, and this time, he chose samosas in a heartbeat. Adding a fun fact, Harsh revealed that even today, there are places in Kanpur where you can find samosas priced at just ₹1 or ₹2.
Next, Harsh chose Kanpur ki shadi ka chaat counter over a Delhi buffet brunch, Kanpur ki lassi over a protein shake, and finally, chai over catching up over coffee. His enthusiasm for chai made us curious about his favourite tea spot in the city. Harsh confessed that he loves Raju Neta’s chai the most. According to him, once someone has chai there, they’re bound to keep coming back again and again.
