A special edition of Tere Gully Mein brought us to Kanpur to meet none other than Kapil Kanpuriya, one of the most loved content creators of Uttar Pradesh. From gorging on chole bhature at the iconic Rajkumar Kachehri Wale to sinking our teeth into samosas from Pappu Samosa Wala, we created memories along the way with Kapil. Sharing a deep bond with this hometown, the content creator even shared that one can take a “Kanpuriya out of Kanpur, but not Kanpur out of Kanpuriya.”
Kapil Kanpuriya Talks About The Attachment Of Locals To The UP City
The minute we met Kapil Kanpuriya, we had to instantly break bread with him (literally). The iconic Rajkumar Chole Bhature is the perfect venue to let the conversations and flavours flow. Feasting on piping hot Chole Bhature, we wanted to know from the content creator why Kanpur can never be taken out of a Kanpuriya.
To this, Kapil revealed that the essence of the city resides in the souls of its residents. “Kanpur wale claim nahin karte kisi cheez ko,” he says. Giving an example, Kapil Kanpuriya reveals that while Kanpuriyas do not claim their connection with the city, their personalities come out when people pretend to be something they are not. Especially when fellow Kanpuriyas try to wear a mask. The essence of the UP city is so ingrained in its residents that it’s tough for them to detach from their identities.
Kanpur, And Its Love For Everything Malai!
Later, the content creator from Kanpur took us to Pappu Samosa Wala for meetha samosas or sweet samosas. As we were served malai samosas and malai paneer samosas, we couldn’t help concluding that Kanpur folks loved their malai or cream.
From malai chai to malai samosas, locals loved the desi cream. While gorging on the sweet samosas laced with chashni or sugar syrup, Kapil Kanpuriya revealed that the only thing he could do in the kitchen was “boil Maggi”. He joked that he’d rather rely on his wife to prepare the final dish as he didn’t trust his cooking skills.
