To learn more about his personal and professional life, our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, met him at AER, the highest sky bar at Four Seasons Hotel Mumbai, for Sunday Brunch. We started the episode by asking him what he prefers to be called: Karan, Jaskaran (his real name), or Geeta Di Machine, as he’s locally known.

Originally from Ghurala in Amritsar, Karan revealed that he has never had a chance to try Mumbai’s actual street food. That gave us the perfect opportunity to treat him at one of Mumbai’s best 5-star hotels. Talking about food, we asked him whether he knows how to cook. He said he can make Tawa Chicken really well, but often forgets recipes, so he relies on videos while cooking.

Then he added a line that truly stole our hearts: “Jab aap pyaar se kuch banate ho, chahe gaana ho ya khaana ho, it turns out good.” (When you make something with love, whether it’s a song or food, it turns out good.) And honestly, we couldn’t agree more.

Before moving to the brunch spread, we played a fun ‘What If’ game with him. Using AI-generated images made on the Samsung Galaxy Book5 Pro 360 and Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra, we asked him to create songs on the spot based on the pictures. His creativity in composing these songs on the spot was admirable.

A Feast With Stories

Then came our hearty Sunday Brunch spread, which included vada pav, misal pav, pav bhaji, and of course, dahi bhalle for that Punjabi touch. Over these street-food classics, Karan Aujla shared nostalgic stories from his childhood. He recalled how his mum once thrashed him for stealing a pencil from a girl in school (though he hadn’t), and how he collected coins to buy aloo bhujia and aam papad in his village.

He also spoke about missing his childhood friends before he moved to Canada. Losing both his parents at an early age— his father in an accident and his mother to cancer—left him struggling with emotions. It was during this time that he met his wife, who stood by him through his toughest days. Karan said he owes his success to her and stressed how important it is to have the right life partner.

The singer also shared that he has now shifted from Canada to Dubai with his family. In between these emotional stories, Karan spoke about moments that pushed him towards writing and eventually into the music industry. He also discussed the struggles he faced, his inspirations, and his latest album, P-POP CULTURE. This episode was not only fun but filled with heartfelt emotions and inspiring moments.
