On a recent episode of Tere Gully Mein, we explored the vibrant streets of Bhopal, visited the iconic spots in the city, enjoyed a sunset, and relished delicious street food with none other than Aditya Kulshreshtha, the comedian fondly known as Kullu. Born and brought up in Bhopal, he was the perfect person to show us around and bring to life everything that makes this city iconic. But this episode wasn’t just about exploring Bhopal but also about getting to know the man behind the impeccable comic timing, his life, his journey as a stand-up comedian, his love for Bhopal and its food, and a lot more. To know how he found his inclination towards comedy, read on.
Kullu Was His Inspiration From This Popular Comedian
We discovered that Kullu holds an engineering degree, but he began working in radio during his second year of college. But his love for comedy came even before that. He revealed that when he was in his first year of college, he had already realised that engineering was not for him, and he was only going to pursue it just for the sake of the degree.
Curious, Kamiya asked if he could see it as a viable career option when he had just started. Did he have somebody that he could look up to as an inspiration? Kullu revealed that his inspiration was none other than Zakir Khan. He added that while Zakir’s most famous video wasn’t out by then, he had already started getting popular. Other comedians like Biswa Kalyan Rath, Rohan Joshi, and Tanmay Bhat had also started gaining popularity in a niche circle. So, he could see potential in comedy as a career.
Another factor that gave him the courage was how much people in Bhopal recognise and accept art. People here are fond of mehfils and performances, whether somebody’s singing, doing theatre, or doing comedy. He found his audience and acceptance in Bhopal.

His Dating Life Back In Bhopal
Digging deeper into his life in Bhopal back then, we asked if he ever went out on dates here and if there were any famous dating spots. He revealed that back then, Cafe Coffee Day was considered a fancy place for dates. Even though he did go out on quite a few dates back then, it was a little tricky. As goes with any small town, they always had to be very careful about running into their parents or anyone else they knew.
Following this conversation, Kullu also revealed the one major difference between Bhopal and Mumbai in his opinion. To know what it is, watch the full episode on the Curly Tales YouTube channel.
