Geeta Basra Talks About Her “Favourite City In The World”
This Sunday Brunch episode was not just fun but also gave us a sneak peek into the life of Geeta Basra, who has made a comeback with her movie Mehar. The episode focused on Punjabi and Gujarati food (yes, we enjoyed aloo paranthas, dhokla, patras, and much more), family, and heart-to-heart conversations. For those who don’t know, Geeta Basra originally grew up in London, UK.
When Kamiya asked how many years it had been since she left London and shifted to India, Geeta replied, “Two decades.” She added, “My time here is probably more than what I spent in the UK.” Geeta also shared that after her marriage to Harbhajan Singh, they spent some time in Punjab. Later, after having kids, they shifted to Mumbai. She said, “Mumbai is my most favourite city in the world.”

She Chooses Mumbai Over London
Geeta’s answer surprised us. Kamiya even asked if she considers Mumbai better than London. Without missing a beat, Geeta said, “I love Mumbai.” She revealed that growing up in the UK, there were not many Indians where she lived, and she grew up in a Western culture. Yet, her family kept her rooted in Punjabi culture and ensured she never lost touch with her roots.
Geeta also opened up about her childhood in London. She said she used to learn Hindi and watch many Bollywood movies while growing up. The actress also shared that there were very few Indians where they lived, so her family was quite strict with her and her siblings to ensure they didn’t become too westernised.
Loving Mumbai more than the UK seems natural. Geeta not only has a strong career here but also found her soulmate in the city, which she calls “her destiny.” Having her family around and spending more time here might have made the city feel even closer to her. Geeta also shared that she had dreamt of becoming an actress since childhood, a dream that became reality after moving to Mumbai.
The episode continued with Geeta Basra sharing her love story with the star cricketer, talking about her big first break in Bollywood, all while enjoying a delectable spread of paranthas, rajma chawal, dhokla, patra, and more.
