Actor par excellence, Amit Sial, met us for a fun day-out across Delhi’s Mini Afghanistan. From gorging on an Afghani platter of kebabs and curries to slurping Afghani ice cream, the foodie enjoyed every bite soulfully. Moreover, he also spilt the beans on his foray into acting, his fond memories as a student of theatre in his school and his time in Australia, that holds very dearly. Outside of India, the actor feels at home in Melbourne, Australia. Here’s why!
Amit Sial Calls Australia His Home Away From India
While gorging on a hearty Afghani meal, fit for the royals, at Mazaar Restaurant, Amit Sial revealed he spent his large part of his early adult life in Australia. At the age of 22 years, the actor travelled to Melbourne in Australia to study Masters in International Business. While he was good in academics and was interested in too, he was bitten by the acting bug quite early in his life.
Amit Sial revealed his parents understood his love for the stage, but wanted him to have a fall back plan as well. Hence, International Business. But the actor is grateful to have spent time in Australia. It was a new place that brought new experiences with it. He credited the country to turn him from a boy to a man. He learnt to manage everything on his own. The actor didn’t have the option to just buy a ticket and fly home the minute he felt homesick. So, life in Australia taught him to deal with perils.

He Dabbled In Various Odd Jobs In Melbourne While Studying
In the four and half years, the Mirzapur actor spent in Australia, he visited India just twice. “That place taught me a lot,” he said introspectively. “Kanpur meri janmabhoomi hai. Mumbai meri karmabhoomi hai. Delhi ghar aur kaam ki bhoomi hai. Aur out of India, kahin ghar mehsoos hua toh woh Melbourne hai.” ( Kanpur is my birthplace. Mumbai is my workplace. Delhi is a space of home and work. And out of India, I feel at home in Melbourne.)
Having spent four and half years of his early adult life, Melbourne is a very special place for the Raid 2 actor. While pursuing his studies in Melbourne, the actor dabbled in various odd jobs. He drove taxis, washed dishes at a restaurant, worked at a 7-Eleven convenience store. But he doesn’t call any of this a struggle. For Amit Sial, it was all good fun, “mazaa”.
