The conversation flowed not just about devotion and service but also about the viral guru’s real life. Here’s what went down in this episode.

Swami Aniruddhacharya Ji Talks About Life On Sunday Brunch

Our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, had an amazing day at the Gauri Gopal Ashram, Vrindavan, where she met Swami Aniruddhacharya Ji, also known as the viral Pookie Baba. The episode started with the crowd at the ashram struggling to get one glimpse of him. But Curly Tales can’t be satisfied with just one glimpse. We had so many questions to ask Swami Aniruddhacharya Ji. Our conversation started with the viral Baba sharing that every day, the ashram sees around 30,000-40,000 people who come to seek solutions to their problems.

But we asked why people on the internet call him Pookie Baba. He had a very simple answer. According to him, people have given him this nickname because he has a unique way of explaining the harsh truths of life. Not many know, but Swami Aniruddhacharya Ji was born in a village in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. He came to Vrindavan for studies and went back, but later returned to serve society. Since then, he has been in this place as one of the most well-known spiritual leaders.

Ashram, Food Habits, Fun Games & More

Swami Aniruddhacharya Ji shared with Kamiya Jani that today his ashram has 315 mothers (Vriddh Matayein) who receive care daily. The place also has one of India’s biggest kitchens. It was started during the time of COVID-19, and since then, it has been serving food to many and is open to all. The Pookie Baba then took us to the Akhand Langar, where people can be seen queuing up for meals. Since it was Ekadashi, the ashram was serving vrat khichdi. On other days, dishes like dal, sabzi, chawal, and more are cooked here.

He then spoke about his food habits and shared that he eats one proper meal a day. Apart from that, he has breakfast in the morning and a glass of milk in the evening. After that, we played a very interesting game with Swami Aniruddhacharya Ji. We gave him food options and asked him to choose what he preferred. During the conversation, he shared, “Aaj tak maine kabhi momos nahi khaye,” and it was quite surprising. According to him, one should not eat unhealthy food.

Our conversation then moved to marriages and how he views modern relationships. He shared his thoughts and insights. We also spoke about his famous dialogue, “Koi aapse pyaar kyun karega,” and asked why he says it. He replied that these days, people do not love genuinely. According to him, love does not truly exist. This Sunday Brunch episode ended with a deep discussion on karma and destiny with Swami Aniruddhacharya Ji.
