“Too Much Exaggeration”: Vedang Raina Addresses Jigra Rumours Of Locking Himself Up For 8 Days

At Imtiaz Ali’s office, ‘Window Seat’, our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, met the director, actors Sharvari and Vedang Raina for a hearty Punjabi meal. Over pani puri and parathas, the trio spoke to Kamiya about all things food, films and travel. Vedang Raina also addressed rumours about locking himself for days while shooting Jigra. Vedang Raina Rubbishes 8-Day Method Acting Rumour

During the Sunday Brunch, Kamiya Jani asked Vedang Raina if the rumour of locking himself up for eight days during the Jigra shoot was true or not. Vedang Raina instantly replied: “Yeh toh bahut exaggeration hai. Aisa kuch bhi nahin hua (This is a lot of exaggeration. This didn’t happen).”

The actor recalled an extremely challenging shoot day. As a young, new actor, he wanted to explore a new way to perform the emotional scene. So, for one day, he decided to cut contact with people and stay inside his vanity van, turn off the lights, as part of his method to reach an emotional space.

However, rumours spread quickly about the actor locking himself up for eight days as part of method acting. Vedang Raina told Kamiya Jani, “It really wasn’t like that. Actually, I wouldn’t do something like that again.”

Cycling In Punjab For Main Vaapas Aaunga

Later, Kamiya showed the actor an image of him riding a bike. The actor immediately pointed out that the image is doctored, as in reality he rode a bicycle in Chural, Punjab, while shooting for Main Vaapas Aaunga. “It was a lovely day,” Vedang recalled.

Vedang said he learnt harvesting and got acquainted with a saag called “halo” while shooting for the Imtiaz Ali directorial. Moreover, the actor even learnt to cook a Punjabi dish with the help of his team.
