Curly Tales is back yet again with another super-duper Sunday Brunch episode. For this segment, our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, visited Amritsar to meet one of India’s most loved chefs, Michelin-starred chef Vikas Khanna! Yes, you read that right! In this fun episode, we did not just enjoy some lip-smacking food but also delved a little deeper into the celebrity chef’s life.
Vikas Khanna Loves Watching SRK’s Movies
Stepping into Vikas Khanna’s home, meeting the chef and his family, eating some delicious food and roaming the streets of Amritsar was exactly what we did in this episode of Sunday Brunch. The segment kicked off with the chef welcoming us with his cute dog in his arms. He then introduced us to his mother, elder brother and bhabhi.
Vikas Khanna’s mother sweetly told Kamiya Jani that she was the first person to interview her, which made everyone really happy. When Kamiya asked if something special was being cooked at home for Vikas Khanna, as he had come from New York, his mother cheekily replied, “Woh apne aap hi bana leta hai,” which made everyone laugh.
You will be surprised to know that apart from being an amazing chef, Vikas Khanna is also a die-hard SRK fan. He used to miss school and go to Shah Rukh Khan’s first-day-first-show every time. His brother also revealed that Vikas has watched DDLJ 500 times. Not just that, but the chef also revealed that he last watched the film on his flight from New York. Seems like his love for SRK knows no bounds, just like us!

Vikas Khanna Reveals His Favourite Dish
Since we were at Vikas Khanna’s home in Amritsar, there had to be Punjabi food, right? The chef treated us to dishes like Chana Masala, Vadi Wale Chawal, Rajma Chawal, Dahi Bhalle, Stuffed Karele and Baingan Ka Bharta. In chef’s words, it was “true blue Punjabi khaana”. The chef also made a Punjabi snack by putting some chana and imli chutney on matthi and fed it to Kamiya, who totally loved it.
The Michelin-starred chef can cook thousands of dishes, but still, Rajma Chawal holds a special place in his heart. Our conversation continued about his life in New York and his restaurant, Bungalow. He also took Kamiya on a street food stroll in Amritsar.
