“You Can’t Take Pani Puri Away From Me,” Jacqueline Fernandez On Her Favourite Mumbai Street Food

Jacqueline Fernandez

For the latest episode of Power Hour with Mashable India, our Editor-in-Chief Kamiya Jani joined Jacqueline Fernandez for a morning yoga session at Mahati Wellness in Bandra, Mumbai. After a refreshing early-morning workout session, the duo enjoyed some healthy pancakes, and the actress opened up about her go-to street food in Mumbai.

Jacqueline Fernandez’s Favourite Mumbai Street Food

Between bites of her delicious pancakes, Kamiya put Jacqueline on the spot, asking whether she prefers Colombo or Mumbai street food. With just a moment’s thought, the actress said, “Pani puri,” in a small voice, and the verdict was sealed; she indeed prefers Mumbai street food over anything! And well, that makes sense too, as she has been living in the city for almost 17 years now.

She hilariously said, “You can’t take pani puri away from me! I really like pani puri.” When asked how many she can have in one go, Jacqueline Fernandez revealed that she only stops because people keep looking at her. “Every single time I eat pani puri, I think I can do more than six, but people keep looking at me. I can probably do like 12,” she settles and declares it as her best record.

What She Recommends You Try In Colombo

We couldn’t resist asking the Sri Lankan beauty which one dish she would recommend for anyone visiting Colombo to try at least once. “I would say Kottu roti is a very popular street food over there. It is basically like a paratha that is chopped into fine pieces and mixed with all sorts of meat and veggies, if you want a vegetarian version. It is like Sri Lankan pasta,” she jokingly shared.

Street food aside, what is Jacqueline Fernandez’s comfort meal, the one dish that makes her feel at home instantly? A true desi at heart, she shared she is a dal chawal girl and the good ol’ yellow dal with rice is her favourite dish.
