Yes, on Friday evening, he was spotted at the Churchgate station to inaugurate a novel initiative, which promotes reading and community engagement – Library Junction.
AB de Villiers Travels In Mumbai Metro
AB de Villiers travelled in a metro on Mumbai Metro’s Line 3, Aqua Line. He travelled all the way from BKC to Churchgate station and was dressed casually. With the cricketer interacting with officials, security personnel, and commuters, he stood in the metro during his travel, just like a Mumbaiker, as Mumbai Metro shared photos, he was seen exploring the new underground transport corridor in Mumbai.
As it happens, this exploration was a part of his inauguration of a novel initiative called Library Junction. It was inaugurated in the presence of Mumbai Central Divisional Railway Manager, Pankaj Singh and Project Mumbai CEO and founder Shishir Joshi, as revealed in a report of Mid-Day.

What is Library Junction?
Library Junction is a part of the project Mumbai’s Read Mumbai initiative. It aims to create an inclusive reading and knowledge space for people. With the aim of transforming the community experience by offering citizen’s access to books and encouraging the habit of reading. The library is built using recycled plastic that had been collected during the project Mumbai ‘Plastic Recyclathon’. So how does it work? Well, with a wide range of 1,200 books, the library will be available from 8 AM to 8 PM. They will be able to assist commuters and readers, allowing books to be borrowed for two weeks after issuance. This would make the reading more accessible and convenient.
So, with the legendary cricketer travelling in Mumbai just like a local to inaugurate this novel initiative, one has to take the time to appreciate it. The next time you are getting off or taking the metro at Churchgate station, don’t forget to drop by Library Junction and maybe even borrow a book that will keep you company on a quiet evening.
