A small fire erupted at a burger shop near Ghatkopar Railway Station on Wednesday afternoon, drawing a swift response from the Mumbai Fire Brigade. Though no injuries were reported and the blaze was contained in no time, the incident has sparked fresh concern as it marks the fourth fire-related case in Mumbai in just over a month.

According to Times Now, on July 30, a burger outlet near Ghatkopar Railway Station, Mumbai, caught fire at 12:52 PM. Located on Shraddhanand Road, just steps from Hindusabha Hospital, the fire was relatively minor and brought under control by the Mumbai Fire Brigade within 25 minutes. One fire engine responded; no injuries have been reported as of now. But there’s still no clarity on what caused the fire.
Fortunately, the Mumbai Fire Brigade’s response was prompt and efficient. The fire was brought under control and prevented from causing further damage as soon as they arrived on the field. And by 1:17 PM, it was fully extinguished.
Troubling Pattern Of Fires Noted In Mumbai
Around 13 days ago, the Kanjurmarg East area witnessed a more complex scenario. At around 11:40 AM on July 13, residents at N G Royal Park, a 20-storey building near Gandhi Market, noticed smoke creeping through the electric duct spanning the 16th to 18th floors. It didn’t take long for the Mumbai Fire Brigade to escalate it to a Level-1 emergency. The scene was swarming with three fire engines, a tender, two jumbo tankers, a high-rise unit, a TTL ladder, a breathing apparatus van, a quick response team, and three ambulances. The fire was declared out by 1:24 PM. Once again, no injuries were reported, and no cause of the fire was confirmed.
Then, on July 4, the top floor of Raheja Residency in Goregaon East was the site affected by fire. Flat 2005 caught fire at around 1:00 PM, with the blaze swallowing everything from electrical wiring to clothes and furniture. A single resident was rescued. The fire was doused by 1:32 PM. No injuries were reported, and yet again, no cause could be pinpointed.
And before all of this, there was the Windsor Building fire in Santacruz East on June 25, as stated by Times Now. It didn’t make headlines for the scale of destruction, but it did add another tick to the growing list of fire emergencies this city has quietly endured in just over a month.
From commercial kitchens tucked between railway stations to sky-high apartments with ageing electric ducts, Mumbai’s fire risks are not rare anymore.
