Heavy monsoon rain has now brought daily life to a standstill in Gurgaon. Videos are going viral on the internet showing roads flooded with overflowing water, and netizens are comparing the visuals to Venice! Locals are even joking about using boats or yachts instead of cars on the roads.

Heavy Rain Leaves Gurgaon Waterlogged

After just 30 minutes of rain, Gurgaon turned into a sea, and netizens are now criticising the city’s infrastructure and drainage system. According to Moneycontrol, Gurgaon received around 82 mm of rainfall during its first major spell of monsoon on July 7, and in no time, the roads were flooded with overflowing water. The waterlogged roads led to severe traffic congestion across the city, leaving commuters stranded for hours. A video posted by an X user, @ErRahul337, shows the impact of the rain in Gurgaon.

Reportedly, Gurugram Police issued an advisory appealing to the corporate sector and private companies to permit employees to work from home over the next few days. However, the rain could not stop netizens from sharing hilarious reactions on social media. An X user, @naveengaur_du, posted a video and wrote, “This is what moderate rainfall does to #Gurugram. It is a tough competition with Venice.”
