More Than Just An Auto Ride In Bengaluru

Bengaluru is full of unique stories, and we came across an exciting one that we’d love to share with you. An autorickshaw in the city is offering more than just a ride. The auto belongs to a man named Manivel C, and he has turned his three-wheeler into a space that cares about passengers’ needs. How?
According to Hindustan Times, he keeps sanitary napkins, drinking water bottles, Wi-Fi, a fan, a small TV screen and even books that help passengers learn Kannada in five languages–English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. This makes his vehicle feel safe, friendly and thoughtful for people who travel daily. Another exciting part of the auto is that it has many stickers, and one also mentions free rides for pregnant women and dialysis patients for up to 10 km.

Why Free Rides For Pregnant Ladies?
The idea of offering free rides came from the auto driver’s personal experience. In 2017, his wife was pregnant. He did not have a two-wheeler at that time, and travelling to the hospital used to become difficult. That’s when he understood the real struggle people face during medical situations. Two years later, when he bought his own autorickshaw, he decided to support pregnant women by giving them free rides.
As per Hindustan Times, later, he also added dialysis patients to his list because he saw a close friend going through the same difficulty. His friend was also an auto driver, and the repeated travel for hospital appointments became very expensive.
Inspired by a similar idea in Hyderabad, he has now developed his own app called Super Auto, reported The Hindu. He learned a lot through YouTube videos and also took help from a few developers. Through this app, other auto drivers can register their vehicles – only if they are ready to provide similar facilities and services that he offers in his auto.
