“Truly Heartwarming,” Netizens React To Throwback Video Of Indian Army Rescuing A Himalayan Brown Bear

In a throwback video circulating online, the Indian Army can be seen rescuing a Himalayan brown bear cub named ‘Bahadur.’ The bear apparently got its head stuck in a metal canister. But just like always, the Indian Army saved the day and rescued the animal. Though the video is old, it’s once again winning hearts on social media.

Himalayan brown bears are critically endangered animals. They are mostly found in the high-altitude regions of the Himalayas. Their presence has also been reported in parts of the Siachen Glacier area, near the Line of Control between India and Pakistan. An old video from 2024 has now resurfaced, showing a heartwarming act of kindness. In the clip, Indian Army soldiers can be seen saving a Himalayan brown bear cub who accidentally got his head stuck in a metal canister.

The video, recently shared by Parveen Kaswan (@ParveenKaswan) on X, is going viral again. Though the actual incident took place last year, the soldiers’ compassion is what’s making it trend once more on social media. In the video, the bear cub is seen struggling for his life amid the snow-capped mountain peaks. The soldiers who spotted him first rescued him using a rope and took him to a shelter. There, they carefully cut open the metal canister using tools and later released him back outside. The soldiers affectionately named the bear “Bahadur”, which means brave,  and yes, the name suits him perfectly. He looked a little distressed but stayed calm throughout the rescue.

Netizens Thank The Soldiers 

In the throwback video, the soldiers can also be seen feeding the Himalayan bear cub after the rescue operation. The bear looked not just adorable but also thankful to the Indian Army for saving its life. The Indian Army has once again proved that they are not just protectors of India’s citizens but also of its wildlife. It was a truly heartwarming gesture by the soldiers.

Netizens were quite happy too. One user wrote, “My morning motivation. It’s so beautiful to see this. Every life matters, and our soldiers at Siachen did it. They have saved the life of a brown bear. Compassion at its best.” Another added, “Truly heartwarming! Our soldiers protect not just borders but life in every form. Salute to their compassion.” Many praised the Indian Army soldiers for showing kindness and courage.

Though the video is old, the kindness of the Indian Army in saving this Himalayan brown bear will remain in people’s hearts for years.
