Iconic Kala Ghoda Event Is Back In Mumbai

Kala Ghoda Art Festival 2026 is just around the corner. It is a nine-day celebration starting from January 31 to February 8, 2026. This festival was started in 1999 by the Kala Ghoda Association. Celebrating its 26th anniversary, the nine-day Kala Ghoda Arts Festival will take over Mumbai’s historic Fort precinct.

And you know one of the most fascinating things about this festival? What began in 1999 as a small neighbourhood effort has grown into one of Asia’s largest street art festivals, attracting visitors from India and abroad. The festival spreads across the walkable Kala Ghoda precinct in South Mumbai. Well-known landmarks like Jehangir Art Gallery, David Sassoon Library, and CSMVS also become part of the festival experience.

What To Expect At This Event

At this event, you’ll get to enjoy vibrant folk dances and witness live performances by popular singers like Farhan Akhtar, Monali Thakur, and Usha Uthup. Several programmes and workshops are also planned for children. Actors like Mona Singh and Anupam Kher will share their knowledge through interactive sessions. The festival will also feature a selection of engaging films.

You can reach the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival easily by train or road. Churchgate station is just a 5–10 minute walk away, while CSMT is around 15–20 minutes on foot. Taxis and cabs can drop you near the venue. The traffic is usually heavy during festival days, so using public transport is the most convenient option.
