CT Exclusive: I Tried The Viral Rasgulla Cappuccino, And It’s Not As Bad As It Sounds!

Rasgulla Cappuccino

Another day, another food combo! Social media is full of people experimenting with their food and beverages. Most of the time, I manage to resist trying them out. Last time, I tried wine with vanilla ice cream. But this time, I couldn’t skip this viral trend. The reason? It involved coffee! And I couldn’t ignore that. So, I tried Rasgulla Cappuccino. Basically, Rasgulla dunked in Coffee, and here’s how it went.

Rasgulla Cappuccino Might Just Be The New Viral Dessert!

A few months back, I tried the viral Vanilla Ice Cream with Red Wine combo and wrote my honest review about it. Yes, it tasted good, and I was pretty satisfied. Recently, my team at Curly Tales came across a reel posted by @theglobalvegetarian on Instagram of a man trying out ‘Rasgulla Cappuccino’ and suggested that I should give it a try. And I, being someone who likes everything coffee, couldn’t resist.

In the video, the man puts a Rasgulla (without the sugar syrup) in a cup and then brews coffee over it. It’s simple. So, I ordered some Rasgullas and a hot cup of Cappuccino from a coffee shop near my home. I placed the rasgulla in a cup and, just like the creator, poured the Cappuccino over it. Yes, I squeezed out all the sugar syrup from the Rasgulla first, and did not use any sugar for my coffee either.

Tiramisu With An Indian Twist?

Now, here’s the moment we are all waiting for: the taste test! The appearance looked confusing to me because the rasgulla started absorbing all the liquid and turned coffee-coloured. Honestly, I was sure I was going to be disappointed. But then I took one sip and one bite of the Rasgulla. Believe me, it tasted like someone had given Tiramisu an Indian twist! The Rasgulla turned softer, almost melting into the Cappuccino.

I took another bite and realised something else. The Rasgulla was spongy and had lost all its sugary taste. It felt as if it had become part of the coffee itself.  The Rasgulla also made the coffee super sweet, and I thanked heaven that I did not add any extra sugar. And the coffee? It tasted like the Depaul’s coffee I sip on when wandering the streets of Janpath or GK-1.

For me, the taste was okay. It was better than what I expected. But I do think this would taste better if, instead of hot cappuccino, you use ice-cold coffee. Maybe I will try it once again with cold coffee.

For me, I would rate it a 7/10. Tell us, would you try Rasgulla Cappuccino? If you have any other food combo we should try, do let us know!
