Opa Kipos has officially made its big comeback in Worli, and it’s every bit as dramatic, delicious, and joyful as you’d hope.

CT Review: Dubai’s Opa Kipos Returns To Mumbai With Delish Mezze Platters, Plate-Breaking Fun & High-Energy Dancing!

Blue-and-white Santorini-inspired fine dining from Dubai wasn’t just a “place to eat” when I visited the older outlet a few years back in Worli. It was where nights were loud, joyful, and delicious. From aesthetics to fuller plates (apart from the one you smash!), everything about that place practically oozed Greek vibes. You probably spotted those iconic plate-smashing videos on Instagram during its first innings in Mumbai. Well, guess what? The smashing is officially back in Mumbai at Opa Kipos. Say OPA!

After a brief hiatus, Opa Kipos, the iconic experiential restaurant, has made a grand comeback in Worli, but this time bigger, brighter, and bolder than ever. Under the hospitality umbrella of Aspect Hospitality Group, the relaunch comes with a promise: everything people loved, just turned up a few notches.

A Smashing Reopening Of Opa Kipos In Mumbai

The launch event felt less like an opening and more like a reunion with an old friend who’s suddenly cooler. The evening kicked off with Managing Director Hitesh Keswani setting the tone of the restaurant. His idea of Opa Kipos restaurant was to display a dining experience that feels more like a Greek escape in the heart of Mumbai. And honestly, the moment you step in, you get it.

The new 6,500 sq. ft. space in Worli is designed to sweep you straight to Greece. No flight or passport required. The interiors have been dreamt up by Dubai-based Creative Clinic, and they’ve outdone themselves. Think hand-trowelled lime plaster walls, Grecian stone flooring, deep blue shutters, and bursts of bougainvillaea. A larger-than-life Atlas sculpture and a star-pin ceiling complete the dreamy setting. One walk through and you can practically hear the Mediterranean waves lapping in the background, along with the calm music playing.

What’s New?

Opa Kipos now has a more versatile vibe than before. It’s got three distinct zones — a dining and performance hall, a VIP lounge, and a vibrant bar area. And because they’ve clocked in that Mumbai loves its family Sundays, the restaurant now hosts kid-friendly brunches. Bliss!

The Grecian aesthetic runs through every inch. It’s an intentional break from Mumbai’s city chaos, especially when the lights dim and the music kicks in, the place transforms from a picturesque lunch spot to a full-blown party.

Where Dinner Meets A Show

Opa Kipos is built on the idea that a night out should feel like a celebration and more than a mediocre meal. And they deliver on that in true-blue Greek style.

Halfway through your mezze, the music surges. Dancers in traditional attire swirl through the restaurant. And just as you’re tapping your foot, they’ll pull you in. It’s impossible not to smile when a stranger grabs your hand and suddenly, you’re part of a Greek circle dance.

And yes, the most-loved plate-smashing ritual is very much alive at this new outlet. The team hands out plates, and guests smash them to celebrate life, really! But here’s the thoughtful twist: the shards are sent to local NGOs and turned into mosaic art or sustainable building materials. So, your moment of joy actually fuels something good.

Feast Mode With Flavours That Warm Your Palate

And now, let’s talk about what really matters: the food. Executive Chef Timothy Newton has crafted a menu that doesn’t just flirt with Greek flavours, it commits. Drawing from his years in London, Paris, California, and Australia, he’s given Mumbai a slice of Greece that’s fresh, vibrant, and full of soul.

Starters & Salads To Kick Off The Evening

I started with the OPA Hummus — silky smooth, drizzled with good olive oil, paired with warm pita. And guess what, Opa Kipos never has a dull moment. Even your Hummus comes along with a performance. What I really want to say is expect a chef coming around with a tray lined up with a bowl of plain hummus and condiments arranged aesthetically. Then he will slowly start whipping everything until it looks like summer on a plate.

The Traditional & Greek Street Corn Salad is another winner: fresh, tangy, with just the right hint of heat. The Lamb Kebab is crunchy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside, practically melting as you bite. And if calamari’s your thing, the crispy golden rings here don’t play around. P.S. The squid doesn’t get rubbery at all, even if you forget the dish at the table and wander off to join the dance. The Veg Gyro is light yet satisfying, perfect if you’re going easy.

The Mains & Desserts

The Chicken Kontosouvli isn’t just grilled, it’s perfectly charred by the wood fire, and that smoky char clings to every juicy bite. It arrives with a trio of condiments: creamy hummus, punchy harissa, and cool tzatziki, plus a side of potato chips that, frankly, deserve their own fan club. And listen, I’m not exaggerating when I say this: those chips were next-level. I’m a Chip Loyalist, I’ve tasted them all, but these? Golden, crisp, perfectly seasoned. The kind you keep reaching for even when you swear you’re done.

For Vegetarians in the house,  the Mushroom Souvlaki is not just a substitute; it stands strong on its own with the perfect level of Umami. And just when you’re dramatically clutching your stomach, swearing you can’t eat another bite, the Opa Baklava Sundae makes its grand entrance. A sweet, crunchy, honey-soaked showstopper layered with Greek yoghurt ice cream and salted caramel, waiting to be cracked open like a little treasure chest. One spoon in, and suddenly… you’ve found room. Funny how that works.

This isn’t fast food. It’s slow dining, which is meant to be shared, lingered over, and celebrated.

Mythical Cocktails & Bold Flavours

If the food is the soul, the bar is pure theatre. The cocktails here don’t just taste good, they put on a show.

The Helios is sunny and refreshing, like Santorini in a glass. Sirens is a little flirtier, a perfect mix for those who like their drinks light and layered. Cicones brings bold herbal notes, while Penelope is all delicate elegance. Each drink is crafted with flair and delivered with the kind of presentation that’ll have your phone camera working overtime.

They’re not shy about going all out with molecular tricks either. Think smoke, mist, and a whole lot of “ooh” moments.

The ambience nails the Grecian fantasy, the food hits every high note, and the experiential aspect turns dinner into something far more memorable. You walk out not just full, but buzzing with the kind of joy that lingers.
