Chef and content creator Andy Hearnden, better known as Andy Cooks, is a force to be reckoned with. There’s nothing he can’t do! Especially for his babe. From crisp dosas straight out of the pan to a Mumbai-style vada pav, he can whip up dishes for all seasons. So, when Andy Cooks wants you to “wash your croissants, you bat an eyelid, but later do it anyway. Here’s why.
Andy Cooks Suggests Rinsing Stale Croissant
Andy Cooks’ latest reel had one instruction during the holiday season — wash your croissants. “Don’t forget to wash your croissants this Christmas, ” he said with a smile while holding a croissant under a tap of running water. Understanding how baffled we as an audience would be, he gave some context.
If you have stale croissants at home, the chef has a golden solution. The best part about a croissant is its crispiness, the flaky bits that coat your mouth and the airy texture that just makes the bake light on the stomach. But stale croissants become dense, chewy, their signature flakiness stripped away.

Next, Bake It In The Oven
Can you bring back the flakiness of a stale croissant? Can time be reversed, and croissants become fresh again? Well, Andy Cooks says yes! There’s a way to revive an old croissant. And the first step includes washing it. The chef advises you to rinse a stale croissant with cold water for a second. Next, Andy Cooks instructs you to place the “washed croissant” in the oven at 200°C or 400°F for 6 minutes.
There you go! The croissant is back to its golden, crisp form with flaky bits, perfect layers and comforting taste. As proof, Andy Cooks even breaks one and pops a piece into his mouth. It tastes like it’s just fresh out of the oven. Well, as wacky as this croissant tip sounds, we can’t help but trust Andy Cooks on this!
