We live in a world where food delivery is a part of daily life. Want a coffee? Order it online. Craving a burger? Just place an order online. Yes, it is convenient, but it has its cons too. A Gurgaon resident recently tracked his food spending for three months and found that he had spent ₹35,400 on food alone.

The user, Apart_Efficiency_252, shared this on Reddit and revealed that he had been living in Gurgaon for two years. Most of the orders were from Zomato and random restaurants near his PG. The user wrote, “The results actually scared me. The quality was not even consistently good. I’d eat the food, feel vaguely dissatisfied, and scroll Netflix.” The user also shared his monthly food spending for the last three months:

  • Month 1: ₹11,400
  • Month 2: ₹13,200
  • Month 3: ₹10,800

Netizens Share Tips To Control Spending

The user ended his post by asking other Reddit users about their food spending and what they do to control it. Netizens had mixed opinions. One user wrote, “₹12,000 per month is not that bad.” Another user asked, “How about learning how to cook?”

Another Reddit user suggested investing in kitchen equipment like an induction cooktop and mixer, which make it easier to cook at home instead of relying on food deliveries. Many other users also pointed out that food has become expensive now, whether at restaurants or at home. According to us, food deliveries are convenient, but eating outside food too frequently can sometimes be bad for our health.
