Tea in India is more than just a drink—it’s an emotion. Every Indian loves to enjoy it at any time of the day. Often, we pair tea with snacks like biscuits, samosas, and more; however, did you know these classic pairings can be harmful to your health? Here’s what a health coach has to say about it.

Health Coach On Snacks To Avoid With Tea

Health coach and longevity biohacker Prashant Desai (@itsprashantdesai), who trained at Stanford University, often posts content on nutrition, gut health, and exercise. Recently, he took to his social media to highlight how important it is to pay attention to what we pair with tea for better digestive health and energy management.

He shared a video with the caption: “Your evening chai might not be the problem—it’s what you’re pairing it with. Some of our favourite chai combos are secretly affecting digestion, bones, and energy levels.”

Be Mindful Of What You Have Your Tea With!

One of the most common mistakes people make is pairing tea with biscuits. According to Prashant Desai, tea with a little sugar isn’t an issue on its own, but the real problem lies in certain combinations. Biscuits, which are made from refined flour, palm oil, and sugar, can make a person hungry again within an hour and trigger cravings.

Similarly, having tea with deep-fried snacks like samosas may lead to acidity, digestive discomfort, and gut issues. Consuming tea alongside sweets like gulab jamun or fried items like bread pakoda also adds a high number of calories at once, which the digestive system struggles to process efficiently.

So, what should you have with your tea? You can replace these snacks with healthy items like peanuts, roasted chickpeas, almonds, makhanas, or even a Gujarati khakhra with ghee. These options are nutrient-rich, light on the stomach, and help maintain steady energy levels. They allow you to enjoy your tea without compromising digestive health or triggering sugar cravings.

So, next time when you’re sitting to enjoy your tea with snacks, make sure you have something healthy.
