Mumbai’s iconic Shree Thaker Bhojanalay has temporarily shut its doors for repairs and improvements. But don’t worry, the beloved eatery will be back soon, serving the same flavours and classics that have kept diners coming back for decades.
Established in 1945, the legendary restaurant was started with the aim of bringing homely Gujarati and Rajasthani flavours to Mumbai. Its thali features more than 35 dishes and seven varieties of rotis, and the eatery serves over 400 thalis a day.
Over the years, the eatery has also been a favourite among several celebrities, including Farah Khan, Bhumi Pednekar, Sachin Tendulkar, Shankar Mahadevan, Pankaj Kapur, Vidya Balan and the late Asha Bhosle, who were frequent visitors.
Taking to X, the famous restaurant shared, “A little refresh is happening at your favourite Shree Thaker Bhojanalay. A few repairs, a fresh coat of paint & some thoughtful touches — but the same flavours, tradition & love you know and cherish. We’ll be back soon!”

Over the years, Curly Tales has featured Mumbai’s iconic Shree Thaker Bhojanalay on several occasions. One memorable feature was a Sunday Brunch episode where our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, took Tumbbad actor Sohum Shah for a hearty meal at the legendary eatery.
A self-confessed foodie, Sohum joined Kamiya for an unlimited Rajasthani and Gujarati feast in Kalbadevi, while the duo chatted about everything from movies to their shared love for food–it was truly one of the special Sunday Brunches!
