A few months back, Shankar Mahadevan launched Malgudi, a South Indian restaurant serving authentic benne dosa and filter kaapi in Borivali West. Now, the hit singer and composer has announced the opening of an all-new Chembur outlet. He took to his official Instagram account to share the news with his fans and all the South Indian food lovers in the city.
Shankar Mahadevan mentioned that he was born just five minutes away from Chembur. He and his family used to visit South Indian restaurants like Aradhana, Geetha Bhawan and Saroj to relish Benne Dosa and sambar. And since then, the singer has always wondered why the city couldn’t have that authentic South Indian flavour. But as they say, manifestation is powerful. Shankar Mahadevan now has not just one but two outlets of Malgudi, your place for authentic South Indian cuisine in Mumbai.
Aesthetic Interiors & Dedicated Filter Kaapi Barista
Talking about the location, not just the exteriors but even the interiors of this new Malgudi outlet are inviting. The decor is multi-coloured and appealing, and it will transport you straight to a chic restaurant in the South of India. There is artwork on the walls that you won’t be able to resist clicking pictures of.
Talking about its Filter Kaapi Barista, which is a separate counter in the restaurant, Shankar Mahadevan shared that it is reason enough to visit. He ended his Instagram video announcement by saying he is looking forward to having everyone visit his new Malgudi in Chembur.
The energy is great, and the food? What should we say? It is, of course, absolutely great. You can expect all your South Indian favourites here. Expect Benne Dosa, Thatte Idlis, the iconic Mulbagal Dosa made using a 100-year-old recipe, and colourful mocktails, too!
