95-Year-Old Goan Bakery

While shooting with Pankaj Tripathi back in 2024, our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, visited the 95-year-old bakery in Goa with the actor. Located in Panjim, the bakery opened in 1930 and is still running successfully. This place is called ‘Confeitaria 31 de Janeiro’. This Goan-Portuguese bakery is known for its drool-worthy bakery items. What makes this place more special is that all the dishes here are prepared in a wood-fired oven.
The highlight of their menu is the freshly prepared vegetarian puffs, sweets, and a special cake that looks like a chocolate mousse with a side of bread crumbs. Another must-try dessert at this place is the barfi-shaped sweet. The way to the bakery resembles a European cobblestone alley, adding to the eatery’s charm. This bakery has a cute and small indoor and outdoor seating area. It has limited seats, making it just perfect to visit with your partner or friends.

This is one of the most famous spots in Goa and is a must-visit for those who enjoy the city’s Portuguese vibe. They also have some other special dishes to try, like Hazelnut Caramel Tart, priced at just ₹80, and the Chicken Cheese Roll for ₹30. What took us by surprise is that even after years, they have still maintained their authentic taste and pocket-friendly prices.
From our experience, we can say that all the dishes at this 95-year-old cafe in Goa are delightful and mouth-watering. If you’re a sweet lover and enjoy a variety of bakery items, then this place is just for you.
