Soha Ali Khan, known for her roles in Rang De Basanti, Mumbai Meri Jaan and more, recently shared a wellness trick with her followers on Instagram. She posted a video of herself chewing on a raw garlic clove in the morning. Under the video, she wrote, “So for the past four weeks I have been starting my mornings with a little bite of raw garlic. Why? Because this tiny clove is a powerhouse for immunity, gut health, inflammation, and overall balance. It’s ancient wisdom that still holds strong”
And it makes sense. Garlic is known as an ancient home remedy that helps boost immunity and improve gut health. Found in almost every Indian kitchen, garlic has antimicrobial and antiviral properties. These can help fight off infections and strengthen the immune system. The compound allicin present in garlic gets activated when garlic is chewed or crushed, which is what makes it so powerful. Daily consumption of one clove may also help detoxify the body and improve blood circulation.

But Not Everyone Can Stomach It
But here’s the thing: no matter how good the benefits sound, not everyone can stomach a raw garlic clove every morning. Soha Ali Khan admitted this as well and said, “If you are not brave enough to chew, you can crush it and let it rest for ten minutes.” She further added, “It’s not for everyone — if you’re on blood thinners, have tummy sensitivity, or planning surgery, always check with your doc first!”
The catch? Garlic breath and its taste! To deal with that, the Rang De Basanti actor suggests brushing well and using a good mouthwash right after.
Many of her followers reacted in the comments. One user wrote, “My mom used to chew garlic cloves every morning cos of her immense knee pain issue and trust me, it worked wonders in curing the pain” Another shared a different hack: “Raw garlic is a fabulous medicine! Btw…you can have a glass of milk for the garlic breath. It works. Also, milk and garlic are a great combo, especially during this monsoon season.” Lots of her fans thanked her for this effective wellness tip.
