Swiggy Delivers 1 Lakh Modak Orders During Ganesh Chaturthi
The demand peaked during the morning hours, with most orders placed between 7 am and 11 am. During this four-hour window, Swiggy recorded an average of around 11,500 modak orders every hour, highlighting the popularity of the traditional sweet during the festival. Among the country’s metro cities, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Pune recorded the highest demand for modaks. In emerging markets, Nashik, Jodhpur and Patna emerged as some of the cities with strong demand.
Maharashtra unsurprisingly remained at the centre of the modak rush, accounting for 41% of all modak orders placed across India on Ganesh Chaturthi. Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Nashik and Amravati were the state’s leading cities for orders. Traditional varieties remained popular among consumers. Mawa Modak recorded an average of 185 orders per hour, while Ukadiche Modak, Kara Kozhukattai and Kesar Modak were also among the top choices.

Mumbai Tops The List With ₹29,693 Modak Order
The festival also saw some sizeable modak orders. The five highest-value modak orders in the country were placed from Mumbai. One customer from the city placed an order worth ₹29,693 for an assortment of 144 modaks. The order highlights how families and groups often turn to food delivery platforms to prepare for festive gatherings and celebrations.
