At events or public places, eating street food without spoiling lipstick is a task for many girls, especially if it’s golgappa. That’s why a viral video on Instagram is catching everyone’s attention. In the video, a personality developer and counsellor showed how to eat a golgappa without spoiling lipstick. Indian netizens, however, have expressed disappointment. Read to know more about it.
A Viral Video On Golgappa Etiquette
Personality developer and counsellor Pria Warrick (@priawarrickfinishingacademy) recently took to her Instagram handle, sharing a golgappa etiquette video. While posting the video, she wrote, “A beloved street delicacy, enjoyed with elegance. Yes, it’s possible to savour pani puri without compromising your makeup—or your grace. Here are the subtle techniques to indulge in your favourite flavours while maintaining poise and polish. Because refined dining isn’t limited to fine dining.”
The video begins with Pria Warrick eating a golgappa in the usual way. She poured the spicy water into the puri, which created a mess. Then, she showed a more graceful way to eat a golgappa in public. For this, she uses a spoon and fork to pick puri and put it in a bowl. Further, she broke the puri into two pieces and then took one piece with a spoon. She ate puri and then drank tangy water from a shot glass. With this video, she showed how one can enjoy the original flavour of golgappa without creating a mess.
Netizens’ Reactions To This Post
The now-viral Instagram video showed how to eat a golgappa in a fancy way. However, when it comes to Indians, golgappa etiquette isn’t something that positively grabs their attention. Indians love to eat golgappa in a traditional way, and so, hundreds of them expressed their dislike for the video in the comment section.
One user wrote, “With all due respect, ma’am, I would rather apply another coat of lipstick but not compromise with the golgappa.”
Another one commented, “Golgappa is Indian street food — and not everything needs to be eaten with a spoon or a fork. There’s a specific way to enjoy golgappas….you fill them with spiced water and pop the whole thing in your mouth — that’s where the real joy is. Not everything needs to be influenced by the West. This is one of those foods every brown person knows how to eat — and even if a foreigner tries it, they’ll be taught the right way to eat it. So let’s proudly enjoy our street food the way it’s meant to be eaten — raw, real, and desi!”
“My emotions are now hurt,” another Instagram user added.
One user commented, “I can go without makeup, but won’t insult pani puri like this.”
