One of the biggest ride-hailing platforms, Rapido, has launched a new food delivery app, Ownly. Similar to their travel programme, Ownly takes a new approach to the market by being a zero-commission platform. Read on to know more about this development.
Rapido Launches Food Delivery Platform, Ownly
As per a report by The Hindu, the food-delivery platform Ownly charges restaurants no fees and has no hidden charges. Talking to the portal, Aravind Sanka, founder of Rapido and Ownly, stated that with Ownly, customers only have to pay for the food and delivery. This makes the entire experience easier, fairer, and transparent for both restaurants and consumers.
Back in 2015, Rapido launched and picked up during the COVID pandemic. It took on bigger ride apps like Ola and Uber, especially its two-wheeler services. Now, with the food delivery service, the brand is ready to compete with Swiggy and Zomato.
Ownly’s Model, Pricing & More
Aravind discussed the model with the portal, stating that restaurants have had to strike a balance between high commissions and customer prices. With Ownly, they can choose to give their customers the best price without the complex calculations of commissions, discounts, and ads. Talking about the pricing on Ownly, he stated that Ownly has worked with restaurant associations to create a restaurant-first model that is honest and transparent for the community and will never have hidden discounts and charges that restaurants have to bear. He also said that the current business models don’t require any of these elements for necessary growth.

He further said that the expansion is very much on the plans, and they will soon expand the app to both Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities.
