Zomato Users, Cash On Delivery Now Comes With An Additional Fee; Check How Much You’ll Pay

Zomato, a popular app, lets you easily order food from your favourite restaurants and have it delivered right at your doorstep. Apart from having payment options like UPI or card, the platform also has the Cash on Delivery option. But now, choosing cash will cost you extra money. Here’s why!

Zomato Now Charges Extra For Cash On Delivery Orders

Zomato is one of the most used food delivery apps in India. Just open the app, browse menus from hundreds of restaurants, add food to your cart, choose a payment method and done. Many users often pay using UPI, while many other people also prefer handing over cash to the delivery agent. But according to Moneycontrol, the COD option is set to become costlier.

Zomato has now begun charging foodies an additional fee for choosing Cash on Delivery. This new charge is another fee customers will now have to pay. The new “Pay On Delivery” fee can be seen as a separate line item on Zomato’s bill. Reportedly, the fee appears to vary. Some users are being charged ₹7, while some will have to pay ₹20. The reason for introducing this additional fee is not yet clear.

COD Fee Is Separate From Other Charges

Foodies should know that this additional fee is separate from the platform fee, restaurant packaging fee and GST charges on Zomato. According to The Times of India, Swiggy, Zomato’s rival, currently does not charge additional fees for the Cash on Delivery option.

Zomato’s new charge comes at a time when the competition in the food delivery market is getting challenging, with many new startups entering the game. So, the next time you find yourself ordering food on Zomato, try paying via UPI or card. The COD option may make your food delivery more costly, and no one wants that, right?
