The dates for the Amarnath Yatra in 2026 have now been officially announced. This annual Hindu pilgrimage in Jammu and Kashmir is all set to begin from July 3. If you are planning to undertake this pilgrimage this year, scroll down to know every important date, eligibility criteria, and more.

Dates Announced For Amarnath Yatra 2026 

The Amarnath Yatra is one of India’s largest religious pilgrimages dedicated to Lord Shiva. It involves a trek to the sacred ice cave in Jammu and Kashmir. The yatra will begin on July 3 and will span 57 days, concluding on August 28. The schedule was announced recently by the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, after a meeting of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board.

Lord Shiva devotees planning to undertake this pilgrimage should note that registrations will begin from April 15, 2026. Devotees across the country can register both online and offline. The facility will be available at 554 branches of J&K Bank, Punjab National Bank, State Bank of India, and Yes Bank. Online registrations will be available through the official website of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board. 

The office of the Lt. Governor of J&K also noted that the Pratham Puja to invoke the blessings of Lord Shiva will be held on Jyeshtha Purnima, which falls on June 29, 2026.

How To Register For Yatra 

According to News18, the online process requires OTP verification via mobile number and email. Applicants will also have to upload a scanned Compulsory Health Certificate (CHC), issued on or after April 8, 2026, along with their passport-size photograph. Those opting to register offline should visit the authorised bank branches from April 15. The process follows a first-come, first-served system.

Applicants will need to show their CHC issued by an authorised doctor along with a valid identity proof. Biometric authentication will be conducted using the eKYC system at the branches. The registration fee is ₹150 per person. Keep in mind that an RFID card is also mandatory for the Amarnath Yatra 2026. According to News18, after completing the registration process, pilgrims can collect the card from designated centres in Jammu and Kashmir. Entry beyond the Domail or Chandanwari gate points will not be allowed without the RFID card.

Coming to eligibility, only Indians aged between 13 and 70 are allowed to take this sacred yatra. Pregnant women beyond six weeks will not be allowed to apply. Devotees can choose from two pilgrimage routes. One is the traditional Pahalgam route, and the other is the Baltal route, which is shorter but a lot more steeper.
