Irakam Island in Andhra Pradesh To Turn Into Eco-Tourism Destination
To protect nature and increase tourism in the state, the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) is set to introduce some groundbreaking developments. According to Travel and Tour World, the government has chosen Irakam Island because it’s already home to migratory birds, including flamingos. Located in the Tripura district, this island celebrates the Flamingo Festival annually. It already has three eco-friendly cottages and will add 15 more rooms before the festival, as it draws a lot of tourists.
The island is perfect for birdwatchers and nature lovers as there is a lot to explore. This idea of turning it into an eco-tourism destination will offer something unique to tourists and will attract more visitors. This upcoming project in Andhra Pradesh aims to improve the lives of local people. Fish communities, communities and economically disadvantaged groups will have job opportunities that will help them support themselves financially. Farmers living in or around the island will get economic support under the Annadata Sukhibhava scheme as well.
How To Visit This Island?
If you’re thinking about the travel route to this island, then you’ll be glad to know that the government is planning to bring high-speed boats that are expected to cut travel time to 15 minutes.
In 95 acres of land, the government is planning eco-friendly resorts with private companies. Many private establishments have already shown their interest. 20 acres of this have been selected as best for eco-resorts. The next detailed plan has already been shared with the companies. This new project by the government shows how tourism and eco-friendly solutions can go hand in hand.
