Bhogapuram International Airport Features Modern Amenities
The viral video shows the interiors of the Bhogapura International Airport, featuring traditional Mogulu art influenced by the culture of North Coastal Andhra. Providing the terminal a unique regional identity while maintaining a modern look. Bhogapuram International Airport is being set up in the Vizianagaram district, located about 40 km north of Visakhapatnam. The greenfield airport is anticipated to become the primary aviation gateway for Visakhapatnam and the Uttarandhra region.

In its first phase, the airport will be able to handle 6 million travellers, with future growth expected to meet rising air travel demand. The airport offers a 3.8-kilometre length of runway capable of handling wide-body planes, enabling it to support both domestic and international flights. Apart from its eye-catching design, the terminal has been constructed with passenger comfort in mind. It will feature digital check-in facilities, biometric boarding, premium lounges, and food courts to offer a seamless travel experience.
Airport Connection With Ram Charan’s RRR
Bhogapuram International Airport has been officially named Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport in tribute of the iconic freedom fighter. He led the Rampa Rebellion (1922-24) in opposition to British rule in the Eastern Ghats of present-day Andhra Pradesh. His life and legacy received global attention through S.S. Rajamouli’s blockbuster RRR, in which Ram Charan played a fictional character created by Alluri Sitarama Raju. However, while the film is not a biopic, it pays tribute to the revolutionary’s courage and patriotism, making the airport’s name a fitting tribute to one of Andhra Pradesh’s most renowned heroes.
Bhogapuram International Airport is planned to transform air access for Andhra Pradesh while giving the region a modern, world-class air transport hub that blends contemporary design with local heritage.
