The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) took to its X account on Friday to make an important announcement. The authorities have formally started construction on the much-anticipated Lajpat Nagar-Saket G Block corridor under Phase IV. The project, called Golden Line-11, is expected to enhance connectivity across South Delhi. It will be a key link designed to provide seamless integration with existing metro lines.
According to their X post, the officials carried out the first Test Pile and Ground-Breaking Ceremony at Pushpa Bhawan near Saket. It marked a major milestone in the expansion of Delhi’s metro network. Dr Vikas Kumar, MD, DMRC, and other senior officials were present. Officials from Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), the contractor for this section, also attended.

The Corridor Will Have 8 Metro Stations
The upcoming Lajpat Nagar to Saket G Block corridor will be elevated. It will comprise eight metro stations:
- Lajpat Nagar
- Andrews Ganj
- GK-1
- Chirag Delhi
- Pushpa Bhawan
- Saket District Centre
- Pushp Vihar
- Saket G Block
As per a report by NDTV, this new line will integrate with three major existing corridors for interchange, which are:
- Lajpat Nagar: Interchange with Violet Line and Pink Line
- Chirag Delhi: Interchange with Magenta Line
Each coach on the upcoming corridor will be designed to accommodate about 300 passengers. According to DMRC, key areas of South Delhi, such as Greater Kailash-1, Saket and Pushp Vihar will benefit from this corridor. Many schools and government offices will also get better metro access. The first Test Pile marks the beginning of major civil works, laying the foundation for the new corridor. In conclusion, this corridor will ease travel for lakhs of commuters and strengthen the city’s transport infrastructure.
