Indian Army Launches Tent Homestay In Garbyang, Uttarakhand
Earlier in October, the Indian Army rolled out a tent-based homestay in Uttarakhand–Garbyang Army Homestay. The facility is located in Garbyang village, located in the Kumaon region of the state. According to The Economic Times, the homestay was launched under Operation Sadbhavna and the new facility was inaugurated by Lieutenant General D.G. Misra, General Officer Commanding, Uttar Bharat Area.
With the goal of encouraging sustainable tourism and improving livelihoods in India’s remote areas, the tent homestay by the Indian Army will soon be handed over to villagers for independent management. The whole project is part of the government’s Vibrant Villages Programme. The aim is to support border communities in earning a sustainable livelihood through tourism and local entrepreneurship.
