From Patna Station To Chhapra-Delhi Express, Bihar Railways Is Getting ₹10,000 Cr Upgrade

Bihar’s railway infrastructure is set for a major expansion after Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced a record allocation of over ₹10,000 crore for the state, alongside ongoing railway makeover projects worth nearly ₹1.15 lakh crore. Want to know more about it? Read on!

Bihar Railway Infrastructure Projects Worth ₹1.5 Lakh Crore

As per a report by The Statesman, Ashwini Vaishnaw stated that Bihar was a witness to a new phase of railway development under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guidance. He further told the portal that more than ₹10,000 crore had been allocated to Bihar’s railway budget and projects worth around ₹1.15 lakh crore were already progressing, indicating a fresh standard approach to infrastructure growth in the state.

The minister pointed out multiple projects directed at increasing railway capacity in and around Patna. A new station with five additional platforms is currently being developed at Hardinge Park, while Fatuha, located near Patna, is also undergoing major upgrades to improve passenger movement and strengthen the region’s railway network.

He also announced the launch of a new express train connecting Chhapra and Delhi, a long-pending demand of residents in the region. BJP MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy welcomed the move, saying it reflected concern for Bihar’s connectivity needs. He added that the train would benefit not only Chhapra residents but also travellers from the wider Saran region, many of whom previously had to travel to Sonepur or Varanasi to secure tickets for Delhi-bound trains.

Bihar Emerges As A Railway Manufacturing & Export Hub

Vaishnaw also underscored Bihar’s growing contribution to India’s railway manufacturing ecosystem under the Make in India initiative. He said locomotives manufactured at the Marhowrah plant were now being exported internationally and revealed that the 51st locomotive would be shipped to Guinea in Africa.

The latest announcements mark another significant milestone for Bihar, positioning the state as an emerging hub for railway infrastructure development, manufacturing and exports.
