Travellers planning trips during this festive season can let out a sigh of relief. Due to steep festive demand, airfares usually witness an exponential rise, which inconveniences travellers. As per a report by Hindustan Times, the government has issued a fresh directive to airlines in India to maintain reasonable airfares ahead of Diwali.

To implement this directive, Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu held a review meeting with officials from IndiGo, Air India, Air India Express, Akasa Air, Alliance Air, Fly91, FlyBig and IndiaOne Air. The 5-hour discussion covered an array of topics and concerns. This included security incidents, technical performance, passenger grievances and operational performances. Naidu directed airlines to maintain reasonable fares on their flight tickers.

There is a stream of concerns, like every other year, about airfares spiking during the festive season due to increased travel demand. So, Naidu directed all the officials from the airlines present in the meeting to ensure fares remain reasonable across all routes. He stressed that high air ticket prices shouldn’t burden passengers during Diwali. The sudden spike in airfares is a serious cause of concern and may act as a roadblock to their trips.
