India Sees 135% Rise In Solo Women Travellers Since 2023, Says Report

India is all set to celebrate its 79th Independence Day. The spirit of freedom is evident not only in ideals but in everyday choices—especially among women travellers, who are embracing independent travel like never before. Over the last few years, there has been an increase in the number of women who prefer to travel alone. Comparing the 2023 data with 2025, IntrCity SmartBus has revealed that the number of solo women travellers increased from 90,700 to over 2.13 lakh. According to the data, more women between the age bracket of 18-35 are travelling solo. This reflects rising trust, enhanced safety, and greater independence among women travellers, the report said.
