Indian Railways Announces New Round Trip Package Scheme
Festival season is around the corner. This means railway stations will witness massive crowds. Many people travel to and from their hometowns during Diwali, Chhath Puja, and other festivals. To ease crowding, the Indian Railways has introduced a special discount scheme called ‘Round Trip Package for Festival Rush’. This will help streamline booking and make travel a smoother experience for passengers. The Ministry of Railways shared the good news on its official X account.
According to a report by The Times of India, from August 14 onwards, passengers will be able to book round-trip tickets for onward journeys between October 13 and October 26, and return journeys between November 17 and December 1. The scheme offers a 20% discount only if passengers book confirmed tickets for both onward and return trips for the same passengers, class, and origin-destination route.
The Scheme Aims To Ease Festive Rush
The main aim of this new scheme by Indian Railways is to manage overcrowding during festivals, simplify booking for passengers, and improve train services (including special trains) in both directions. This scheme is open to all classes and trains, except those with flexi-pricing.
Furthermore, tickets booked under the Round Trip Package will not be eligible for any fare refund. Moreover, the use of travel coupons, vouchers, and passes is not allowed under this offer. This new scheme promises to make festival travel easier and more affordable for Indian Railways passengers. However, it is very important to note that the bookings shall be permissible only for confirmed round-trip tickets.
