In a recent development, Indian Railways is set to start Sleeper Vande Bharat Express services between Lucknow and Mumbai. The train is expected to cut down the travel time to around 12 hours from 22 hours between the two cities. Here’s everything you need to know about this new service!

Indian Railways is now gearing up to introduce an all-new Sleeper Vande Bharat Express between Lucknow and Mumbai. The new train promises faster and more efficient travel for passengers, cutting the journey to nearly 12 hours! It usually takes approximately 22-26 hours of travel time on the train from Lucknow to Mumbai, depending on the train and route. However, there has been no formal announcement from the Railway Board yet. Several media reports suggest the official confirmation on this route is expected soon.

As per a report by India.com, the trial run for the train is likely to begin shortly. This Vande Bharat service will be operated by the Agra division of North Central Railway. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw recently travelled on a Vande Bharat train from Surat to Mumbai with a Japanese minister on Thursday. Following this, speculations are rife that more Vande Bharat trains could soon be launched on other routes, including the Lucknow-Mumbai line.

Authorities Planning To Add More Routes

As per the same report, Indian Railways also plans to operate Sleeper Vande Bharat Express trains from Lucknow to other cities like Bhopal, Jaipur, and Agra. The introduction of the Sleeper Vande Bharat is not a one-off project but part of a broader plan to modernise the Indian Railways network. These high-speed trains aim to replace outdated trains with faster services and modern facilities. This is amazing, right?

Meanwhile, due to ongoing work at Amausi Yard, the authorities have cancelled several trains on these dates: 

  • Train 11109 Jhansi-Lucknow on October 8
  • 22453 Rajdhani Rani On October 8 
  • 12180/12179 Lucknow-Agra on October 8 
  • 51813/51814 Lucknow-Jhansi on October 8 
  • Train 11110 Lucknow-Jhansi on October 9 
  • 22454 Rajdhani Rani on October 9

Due to the ongoing work, these trains will not make a stop at the Amausi Station on October 8 and 9. 

  • 55346 Kasganj-Lucknow Passenger Train
  • 64204 Kanpur Central-Lucknow Junction
  • 64212 Kanpur Central-Lucknow Junction

Due to these cancellations, passengers are urged to keep an eye on updated schedules to minimise inconvenience.

We now await a formal announcement from Indian Railways on the new Sleeper Vande Bharat Express routes. Both North Central and Northern Railways have refrained from commenting on the development so far. All eyes are now on when the authorities will make the official statement and share this much-awaited good news with the travellers!
