Learning a new language is always exciting! These days, many people are picking up Korean, Japanese, and other foreign languages after watching a couple of movies and shows. But what about India’s own rich linguistic heritage? Among the world’s oldest languages, Sanskrit is often limited to school textbooks for most of us. That’s changing, though. In Bengaluru, a unique bikers’ club is bringing the ancient language back into everyday conversations—with one simple rule: everyone communicates in Sanskrit.
Did You Know Bengaluru Has A Sanskrit Riders’ Club?
Founded in Bengaluru in 2024 by Sanskrit enthusiast Samashti Gubbi, the Kimbho Sanskrit Riders’ Club brings together people who share a love for both biking and Sanskrit. More than just a riding group, the club encourages members to weave the ancient language into road trips, casual conversations, and even games.
The idea is simple: take Sanskrit beyond classrooms and scriptures and make it a part of everyday life. To achieve this, members converse almost entirely in Sanskrit during their rides, even replacing common biking phrases with classical vocabulary. For instance, saying aham dhavāmi (I am riding/driving) instead of using English.
Over the past year, the club has organised several rides and weekend getaways to destinations such as Nandi Hills, Skandagiri, Lepakshi, and Gokarna, proving that every journey can also be an opportunity to keep the language alive.

Who Can Join The Group?
Wondering who can join? The answer is simple—anyone with an interest in learning Sanskrit. You don’t need to be fluent or even know the language beforehand. As long as you’re curious, open to learning, and enjoy riding, the Sanskrit biker club welcomes you with open arms.
Those interested can register for upcoming rides through the club’s official Instagram page. The group also regularly hosts interactive meetups, including its popular Kimbho Sanskrit Weekends at Cubbon Park, where beginners can start learning the language from scratch in a fun and informal setting.
