Dutch woman Ivana (@ivanaperkovicofficial) took to social media to share how Mumbai, once her dream city, soon turned into a nightmare during her motherhood journey. In Episode 15 of Amsterdam to India, she revealed that after moving to Mumbai and embracing motherhood, she quickly wanted to return to Bengaluru. For her, Bengaluru had become a true home in India because of its slow, green, and spacious lifestyle.
However, things felt different in Mumbai. Ivana said the city’s fast pace, which once appealed to her adventurous side, started feeling overwhelming. As she entered motherhood, she wanted a calmer and gentler lifestyle. Instead, she felt surrounded by constant hustle and intense heat.

Stuck In A Small Apartment
During her pregnancy, she went through a difficult phase. In the caption, she mentioned that she was dealing with placental bleeding and severe anaemia. During this time, she had to move from her airy Bengaluru home to a small apartment in Mumbai. Rather than exploring the city she had always wanted to experience, she spent most of her time managing health issues and adjusting to major life changes.
Ivana also reflected on how a city that was once a dream may no longer feel right for a particular phase of life. She wrote, “It was very hard for me to not feel ungrateful. So for the longest time I denied my own feelings, because “this was the dream right?”. Well, who’s ever gotten away with that before running into a big wall of despair?”
