Mumbai’s Metro Aqua Line is the city’s first fully underground metro corridor. The underground CSMT Metro Station near the BMC headquarters is nearing completion as part of Metro Line 3. This station is set to boost connectivity and ease traffic. Here’s what we know so far.
Mumbai’s CSMT Metro Station On the Aqua Line Nearing Completion
The construction of the Aqua Line 3 CSMT Metro Station (Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Metro) is almost complete. As per a report by The Free Press Journal, this underground station, located opposite the BMC headquarters near Azad Maidan, will soon offer a comfortable travel experience for commuters in South Mumbai. The photos of the CSMT Metro Station were also shared by X user, @haldilal, on their account.
But that’s not the only exciting part. The photos show that this CSMT Metro Station has a striking design. With its arched entrance and futuristic appearance, the transparent structure not only looks modern but also allows natural light to brighten the interiors, making it more welcoming. The glass design and modern facade add to its allure.

CSMT Station To Link Key Business & Heritage Hubs
This metro station is unlike others in the city. As per the same report, the finishing touches are still underway, but it is expected to open soon for public use. Once operational, the CSMT Metro Station will connect key business and heritage hubs in the area. Authorities are working on the Mumbai Metro Aqua Line 3 to improve connectivity and reduce travel time across the city.
According to a One India report, a 22.5 km stretch from Aarey to BKC is already operational. The remaining Worli-Cuffe Parade segment, which is the final stretch, is awaiting fire safety clearance before inspection by the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS). The full-fledged operations will begin only after this inspection. The complete line is expected to be ready by the end of the year.
