Pune Airport Adds New Flights
Pune airport in Maharashtra has decided to add 15 flight slots. As per Mid Day, earlier, the airport handled 220 flights, and now it can manage 235. This means the airport can handle more passengers smoothly and run operations better. It also helps airlines schedule more flights easily.
With these new flights, the airport will soon introduce fresh routes. Flights from Pune to Mangalore, Solapur, and Bagdogra are expected to start. These new connections will make travel easier for people going to and from these cities. They will also reduce travel time and improve direct access between important regional destinations.

Why New Flights Are Added?
Pune Airport is already an important part of the Government of India’s UDAN scheme, which aims to improve air travel in smaller cities. According to Mid Day, with this expansion, Pune will stay connected to places like Nanded, Kishangarh, Sindhudurg, and Jalgaon. The Ministry of Civil Aviation has supported this move, and officials have also appreciated the proactive efforts of the Minister of State.
Coming to the most important part, several airlines in this new schedule are Fly91, Air India, SpiceJet, Akasa Air, Air India Express, Star Air, and IndiGo. The added flights will start operations on May 1, 2026.
This expansion is expected to bring several benefits. Tourism may grow as more direct flights become available. Trade and business activities could also see positive movement due to improved air links.
